21/01/2009: CHERRY D APPEAL – WILL YOU HELP THE HELPERS? Cherry D launches major appeal to help raise £15,000
Due to an increase in demand coupled with a fundraising shortfall in 2008, Cherry D is now in need of your support. We have a pile of important projects awaiting our attention, with skilled staff lined up to put the work into practice, but until we can secure funding, some new projects must necessarily be put on hold.
Our Business Membership Scheme provides us with a long term sustainable financial solution, but we need funds NOW to continue with the great work we have achieved so far. We are therefore asking our supporters to make as generous a financial donation as they feel able, to enable us to do what we do best. Cherry D is in its 8th year now and so far we have helped over 70 small local Bristol charities to become more sustainable and provide support to those most in need eg.
Caring at Christmas / Nightstop - a preventative project working with homeless 16-25yr olds providing them with emergency accommodation in the homes of volunteer hosts. Nightstop came to Cherry D for support in recruiting more host families. Last year they were unable to accommodate 77% of the young people due to a lack of hosts. Cherry D supported them with writing and delivering a recruitment plan including design and production of a leaflet for potential hosts and drivers and a distribution strategy. (see current projects)

How you can help
- Make a regular or one off donation, see Projects 2009 to see what we could do with £20, £500 or even £1000
- Organise an event or do something sponsored (!), call for a sponsorship pack.
- Ask your employer, children’s school, local pub etc. to nominate us as their Charity of the Year.
- Volunteer with us supporting our community and fundraising work
